Celery Kale Ginger Juice and Day 1 of my juice cleanse

I can already tell that this juice cleanse thing is going to be really hard. It’s the end of Day 1 and I’m super super super tired. I can only surmise that it is due to a severe lack of coffee today. Oh, Coffee, how can I betray you like this? How can I just cut you out of my life like you never meant anything to me at all? You can’t imagine the turmoil I’m feeling right now in your absence. To hold your tender heat in my hands once more and taste your chocolatey roundness on my tongue while I swoon over your love… But alas,  I cannot.

Instead you have been replaced by pre-masticated fruits and vegetables that are spat into the reservoir of the whirring contraption on my kitchen counter. Your simple French press takes up so much less room! I joyously anticipate your return into my life, but for now…

Celery Kale Ginger Juice

Day 1 wasn’t the worst thing ever, but not the best thing ever, either. Here are the stats:

Morning Exercise: 1 mile interval sprints then weights for legs and abs

Breakfast: Celery Kale Ginger Juice

Lunch: Cantaloupe Blueberry Juice

Dinner: Celery Kale Ginger Juice

I feel: I had planned on juicing at 9, 12, 3, and 6. I couldn’t get myself to drink more juice at 6… I have not been hungry at all the entire day, which might be due to the remnants of last night’s binge on cookie butter. However, already at about 1:30 pm I really started to drag. It’s 7:30 right now and I could easily go to bed. I had really expected to have a lot of reserved energy to live off of today, but I guess I used it all up in the sprints?

I’ve been really lethargic and have had a pretty bad headache most of the day. I’m actually going to go ahead and assume it’s because my dear coffee has not made an appearance today,  and I do miss him so.

Weight Lost: 0 lbs. I mean, it’s the first day. Gotta have a starting point. I expect that in the first week I’ll lose weight pretty rapidly due to water flushing, etc., and then from there on perhaps lose some “real” weight, not just water weight… But again, I’m not actually looking at this as a weight loss solution. It’s just a natural side-effect.

Celery Kale Ginger Juice

Now for a delicious juice recipe! This Celery Kale Ginger Juice was good enough that I chose to have it twice today. Unfortunately, it’s not the most beautifully colored juice this world has to offer, but it is quite tasty. The first time I tried it, I put in too much ginger and it had a very overpowering spicy effect. The second time it was delightful. It’s a little zingy and a tad sour due to the granny smiths and the lemon juice, but BY GOLLY I like it!

Celery Kale Ginger Juice

Ingredients:

  • 2 Granny Smith Apples, cored
  • 2 Large Celery Stalks
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Lemon Slice
  • 1/2 inch of Fresh Ginger
  • 3-4 Kale Leaves

Process everything through your juicer and stir! Enjoy (I liked mine better served with a couple of ice cubes).
