Dragon Fruit Pear Juice and The Cleanse: Day 12

Dragon Fruit Pear Juice and the 12th day of my  juice cleanse. Wow… 12 days already? I can’t believe I only have 2 left to go!

Dragon Fruit Pear Juice

Morning Exercise: 6 miles on the greenway on such a beautiful day, it was perfect.

Breakfast: Pineapple Orange Berry Juice

Lunch: Dragon Fruit Pear Juice

Dinner: Apple Blueberry Green Juice

Snack: Spinach and Carrot Juice

I feel: Like, holy cow, I can’t believe it’s already been 12 days on this cleanse. I wasn’t hungry for the majority of it, but admittedly, as it nears the final few days, I’m really starting to feel hungry and really wishing that I could consume more than just juice. There’s a part of me that’s really nervous about going back to solid foods, and I know I’m going to have to sort of slowly ease into it or experience the worst stomach ache ever. But as far as energy goes, I feel great, still love getting out and being active, and my skin especially feels terrific. Today was brilliant, too, because I spent the whole morning walking and then most of the afternoon floating on a mat in the swimming pool.

I did, unfortunately, neglect to completely plan ahead for this cleanse because I totally did it on a whim and just decided “Tomorrow I’m going on a juice cleanse for 14 days” without looking at the date… So my final day on the cleanse is going to be Memorial Day and I’m going to be sippin’ on some (probably) Pineapple Green Juice while everyone else is having a cookout with all sorts of delicious goodies. It’s probably for the best though.. This way I can’t possibly overindulge.

Dragon Fruit

So, dragon fruit, eh? I remember buying a dragon fruit in Australia years ago because they just look so cool (plus I have a thing for dragons) and it had this beautiful magenta flesh inside with a million little black seeds. It looked like it was going to be the sweetest, most amazing fruit I’d ever tasted in my life. Well, it basically tasted mostly like water and I was a little disappointed. Womp womp. Well the thing is, it doesn’t have a whole lot of flavor, but it sure packs a whopping amount of vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants, and health benefits (like slowing aging? Yes, please!). Since it doesn’t really have much of a flavor on its own, it’s perfect for mixing with other fruits the add some extra awesome nutritional benefits into the mix. I’ve never seen it in a traditional grocery store in the U.S. , but I’ve read that you can find it in some farmer’s markets or health stores, and I personally found mine at the Super G Mart international grocery store in Charlotte.

Dragon Fruit

I’m not sure how to tell the difference between them by looking on the outside of the fruit, but the ones I bought this time had a white flesh inside (apparently the flesh comes in varieties of pink, white, and yellow), but they’re all supposed to have the same health benefits. It’s such a cool looking fruit, it almost looks like something made up for Willy Wonka or something crazy. This Dragon Fruit Pear Juice is great because it mostly tastes of pear, but has the extra nutrients of dragon fruit, romaine lettuce, and cucumber in one refreshing drink concoction. After reading about the health benefits of dragon fruit, I’m sure to be purchasing more of it from now on.
