Herb Crusted Tilapia

Herb Crusted Tilapia. Light, tasty, refreshing, healthy, and of course, covered in fragrant herbs and fresh lemons. Yum.  Herb Crusted Tilapia

I ate myself into a coma in December. I started the month by eating super healthy in order to lose a little weight for a Christmas party… and as soon as that party was over I spent the rest of the month putting the weight back on. It’s ridiculously hard to make the right choices when you’re surrounded by cookies.

I teach painting classes at Wine and Canvas, so to make it even more difficult, I taught a number of birthday parties and corporate Christmas parties and at every one of them there were cookies, cake, cupcakes, and candy… And at every one of them the host brought me said cookies, cake, cupcakes, and candy, and insisted that I eat them. I only gave in three times. I have superhero strength and willpower. Eh…

Anyway, it feels good to go back to healthy. It’s also nice that most people have some sort of New Year’s resolution to eat healthier and get in shape, so it’s almost like an understood rule to not try to tempt people with junk food, at least for the first half of January. And if people do offer you cake, they seem more understanding when you turn them down.

Oh my gosh, I’m the best at rambling.

Giveaway Time!!! (giveaway is now closed)

Have you heard of Culinarie Kit yet?

Culinarie Kit is the subscription service for home chefs, bringing a new adventure to cooks of all skill levels.

Each month, subscribers can expect a sampling of artisan or hard-to-find ingredients, including spices, oils, vinegars, extracts, or seasonings, as well as recipes to get you started.

No commitments — cancel, pause or restart your subscription at any time, hassle free.

Ellie from Culinarie Kit was kind enough to send me a free box to review! The box was full of great items.

Culinarie Kit

Smoked Hungarian paprika, spice blend no. 4, French seasoning blend, merlot-infused sea salt, liquid garlic olive oil, bourbon vanilla extract, 5 recipe cards that use the ingredients, an inventory sheet that describes the items with more suggestions on how to use them, and there was even an adorable mini rubber ducky dressed like a chef!

The recipe cards have great uses, and knowing that I was a pescetarian, I received only recipes that fit in to my diet. The recipe cards that came in the box were:

  • Herb Crusted Tilapia
  • Vegetarian Hungarian Goulash
  • Butterscotch Pecan Zucchini Bread
  • Garlic Lover’s Mushroom Carbonara
  • Herbed Dumplings
  • Winter Spice Sweet Potato Fries

I think this box is really cool for people who want to explore more adventurous ingredients with their cooking. It would also be awesome to send as a gift to the chef in your life (I know I would love to receive something like this as a gift!). My absolute favorite thing in the December Kit is the Liquid Garlic Olive Oil. That stuff makes my stomach siiiiiiiing!

I have liked both pages on Facebook. I’m just getting into cooking more and more these days rather then eating prepared foods as I have for most of my life, so this would be fun to win.
